Table of Contents (.pdf, 84K)
Chapter 6: Configuring the TCP/IP protocol (.pdf, 152K)

When you prepare for your MCSE exam, you want a study guide that provides all the information you need, yet is clearly organized and easy to use. The "MCSE Training Guide (70-210): Installing, Configuring, and Administering Windows 2000 Professional" delivers just that.

The book is built around the exam objectives, addressing each objective in a structured and logical way. It consists of two parts, which cover two essential stages of your exam preparation.

Part I, "Exam preparation", provides in-depth information on every aspect of the exam. Each chapter begins with a list of objectives with their detailed explanations, chapter outline for easy reference, and study strategies outline. To reinforce what you have just learned, each chapter includes Case Studies section that allows you to understand how to apply your knowledge in real world situations. One of the most important parts of your study process is gaining hands-on experience that will be critical for passing the exam. The Exercises section allows you to accomplish this. (You will need access to at least two networked computers.) Each chapter concludes with the Review and Exam Questions sections. The Review section allows you to assess you knowledge by answering non-multiple choice questions. The Exam questions section gives you the opportunity to answer real exam-like multiple-choice questions. All questions are provided with detailed answers.

Part II, "The Final Review", is designed to help you with the final stage of exam preparation. This part begins with the "Fast Facts" section - the condensed, bare-bones information to help you cram "the night before". It is followed by 58 well-written practice questions, similar to the actual Microsoft exam questions.

The enclosed ExamGear software makes an important part of the training kit. Its exam-like design allows you to make yourself familiar with the examination process. You are also given more practice questions (including scenario-based questions). You can operate the software in three different modes: Study Mode that enables you to see the correct answer for each question, Practice Exam, and Adaptive Exam. The inclusion of the standard and adaptive modes prepares you for every possible examination format.

Informative, clearly written and well organized with excellent layout, this training kit will prepare you well for the test and will be useful as a reference later.
Highly recommended.
